Description
Virtualization techniques have been used for decades in many fields of sciences. Especially in the domain of computer science the impact of virtualization is continuously rising. Whereas virtualization is a fundamental technology in mainframe systems since the 60s it now succeeds in virtually every computer science domain (e. g. cloud computing, hardware abstraction of multi-core architectures, improving energy efficiency in intelligent energy systems, load balancing, embedded systems). Virtualization offers the opportunity to improve and simplify resource utilization. Therefore, virtualization is considered as one of the major technologies towards resource provision on demand and energy-efficient green computing platforms. Thus, the generic virtualization approach represents technologies that might be the basis to novel ideas that change our thinking about computing systems.
This special track aims at the presentation of innovative approaches and current developments in conjunction with virtualization concepts. Potentials of virtualization in novel application domains shall be discussed.
