Description
Logistics is a key domain fort he developed countries. The logistics global market volume is supposed to reach more than $ 1,000 billion in 2012 according to market forecasts. Statistics show that transport logistics alone contribute to more than 25 percent of CO2 emissions in Europe. Hence, sustainability is a major concern of logistics service providers and logistics users.
One approach towards the improvement of logistics efficiency is the use of service platforms that enable a more sophisticated orchestration of logistics services and their related IT support. In this session we will bring together researchers and practitioners from the logistics and IT domains to discuss current developments in service platforms.
Topics
- Sustainability support for logistics services,
- Logistics process management support,
- Logistics specific IT concepts (e.g. logistics business objects, logistics service patterns, standardized role models).
